KEYNOTE SPEECH

"Redefining Balance: taking your yoga practice into action in service and life"    w/ Adi Carter
In this discussion Adi will speak about how yoga practice can generate a desire to do more off the mat. She will discuss service work and donation based events and classes as ways to raise awareness that the time is now to create change not only in our own lives but in our communities and the world we all share.  Inspired by a long time passion for the environment and the outdoors, Adi’s focus is environmental awareness and the importance of simple eco-conscious initiatives we can all commit to on a daily basis through the practice mindfulness. She will discuss her “trash tour” and “Mindfulness Challenge” which were two grass roots initiatives that helped her to raise over $25,000 in less than one year for the Off the Mat into the World Global Seva Cambodia challenge by only spending $56 as an initial investment.

Do you feel that life is a constant struggle and nothing is ever easy?  Do you experience the same negative issues over and over?  Are you content and looking to take your energetic body to the next level?  Luckily, Yoga always offers  a solution to reverse the negative and enhance the already positive ways of life.  Join seasoned yoga teacher  Christian Valeriani for an uplifting and energizing chakra tuning workshop designed to vibrate the cellular body to align, shift and explore the depths of positive prana flow  This session will consist of a deep understanding of the chakras, or energy centers, and pranayama through a vinyasa practice laced with vibrational chanting while in asana.  All levels are welcome as the engineered sequence can accommodate even the newest practitioner.  Please bring your positive energy and your open mind for this amazing investigation of your life purpose!!

This workshop begins with a Dharma Discussion, a conversation that embodies the Yoga practice as a whole and explains the implications of today's work.  Once this intention is set, we will enter into a  brief Metta, or loving kindness,  Meditation that calms the mind and purposely directs our collective conscience. The Chakra Tuning Vinyasa Practice is designed to vibrate the innermost cellular body to awaken spirit and facilitate change.  When practiced as a community, the Chakra Tuning extends the boundaries of the individual intention, therefore creating a group prayer that asks for world peace, universal understanding and equality for all living beings.

LOVE.YOUR.BODY. DANCE.

"Journey Dance" w/ Antoinette Simms
This unique style of expression is based in yogic philosophy of the chakra system as well as utilizing shamanistic/native American influences that capture the entire being from physical to emotional and spiritual.  Although this is a movement class, there is a lot of focus on freedom of the body and its natural ability to experience form through incredibly enticing music and visualizations. Absolutely no dance experience is necessary.

"African Drum Circle Dance Party" w/ Jim Davidson
Learn different hand positions, drumming techniques, and rhythms to listen and entrain as one drum body. Drum together to rhythms of the Mandingue culture of West Africa, as taught by Mamady Keita and Famoudou Konate. When going strong experiment with call and response as well as tension and resolution that is so central to African rhythms. Feel the rhythms guide your body into spontaneous movement and dance! Together our goal is to carefully raise the drum energy of the circle, slowly picking up the cadence until we are flying at maximum energy!

Drumsound rises on the air
It's throb my heart
a voice inside the beat says
I know you are tired,
but come, this is the way
