KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Alison Ingenito "Creating the Change"
Body, Mind, Self and World are all explored by discovering "how" our habits of thinking, feeling, reacting and experiencing are affecting the outcomes of all we attempt to do. By understanding these patterns we can begin to influence change in a more conscious and focused way that yields the results we are truly seeking.
Honored Guest Speaker: Carol Buckley
"Sanctuary: A Captive Elephants Only Acceptable Alternative"
The crisis facing elephants in captivity and in their home ranges. Carol Buckley is the President and co-founder of The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.
Answering her inner calling, yogini Carol Buckley created a safe and quiet sanctuary for retired elephants from the entertainment business. Hear about her work, the triumphs and tribulations, and be inspired to answer your own calling for the world.
ADVANCING THE PRACTICE
In this workshop we will be observing the "Habitual Rituals" of the body's function so we can learn how to move past plateaus, balance our practice, find new strength and be able to engage any physical endeavor with less apprehension. Experience a practice to focus on your needs to jump farther into your practice. As soon as we acknowledge and accept the place the body is now, we can start to create the change we seek. This is the definition of an advanced yoga practice...body, mind, self and world.
KAMA YOGA: moving to your breath's desire.
Vinyasa is the marrying of breath and movement. Evenly metered breath coupled with evenly metered movement to cultivate evenness of mind; a state of grace called “flow”. We simply follow our breath… But what is the intention of the each breath? The difference in the inhalation and exhalation, and in movement and stillness? In this class we will find grace by cultivating movement and stillness which satisfy and focus on the breath’s desire. In doing so, we are able to harness the power of each inhalation and exhalation, and let our breath overcome the challenges of physical practice. Fulfilling our breath's desire allows us to expand our potential on and off the mat.
